I was pulled over for not using my signal to change lanes and he also said I was following to closely to the car infront of me. The officer also gave me a dui test which I passed without any problem, but he ended up giving me a ticket for the 2 charges above, but he told me to fight him on the ticket and he would drop one of the charges. he wrote the tickte up as a mandatory court appearance so I had no choice but to appear and pled not guilty.
What are the odds the officer will do what he said and drop one of the charges and is there anything else available that would assist in getting out of both tickets since he is writing a ticket for multiple charges and agreeing to drop one of them?

Slim and none. Once the ticket is written and submitted to the DA's office and court, the officer no longer has any authority to change or alter the charges.

Information can be found on Google and Yahoo by typing in fighting a traffic ticket . The seach will bring up websites which should provide you with information on how to present a proper defence in court.

There is also a book published by NOLO on beating your traffic ticket which should be available at your local library.This book describes
how to question an officer in court (Chapter 11, pages 8 thru 10) as well as general infomation on filing for Discovery (obtaining copies of the officer's notes, and other information relevant to your case.)IF Discovery isn't available in Delaware there is the option of filing a Public Records Request.
According to this book IF Court Rules REQUIRE that the officer appear in court and he doesn't, then your case should be dismissed. If he does appear in court, he needs to prove all elements of the case for the judge to find you guilty. Tailgating Defence is covered in Chapter 7pages 23 and 24.
