my 17yr daughter got a speeding ticket in maryland

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? maryland
my 17 yr old daughter just informed me that she got a speeding ticket the other day and im trying to find out what the consequences and penalties she might be facing?
she was caught doing 79mph in a 55, and i dont know if that constitutes reckless driving in maryland, or if she may lose her license after only having her provisional for only 4 months. from what i found out she will at least have driving improvement classes, and i dont know if it holds a 5 or 6 point penalty

The driver improvement class is mandatory.

The court may suspend her license at their discretion.
The court may defer her conviction (probation before judgement) at their discretion.
It will restart her 18 month clock on how long she needs to be conviction free to get a regular (non-provisional) license.

I'm not sure it is reckless driving (which will be 6 points) just because of the speed. Is that what she is charged with? That's very serious.

we havent seen the ticket yet but i went online to md case search and there it just says exceeding max speed limit by 24 mph, but other things i have read says that that amount over speed limit is considered reckless driving but thats not what the ticket states. either way its going to cost a small fortune because if i dont get a lawyer and let the judge hang her out to try to teach her a lesson my insurance will go through the roof because of her age and the speed, or i pay the 500 and hopes to get her off

Hope to get her off how? What would be the defense?

I strongly suggest that you have her reimburse you the "small fortune" it's going to cost you. Letting kids get off scott-free doesn't bode well for future behavior. I'm just sayin'.
