NC speeding in SCWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? North Carolina My 17 year old daughter got a speeding ticket for 69 in a 60 in SC. It was issued by a State Patrolman in Bennettsville. Is this worth "fighting?" I was told it was ONLY 2 pts. but 2 pts is 2 pts too many in my book. A lawyer says he can represent us for $199 and may or may not get it reduced to a non-moving violation. No promises. I asked about doing it myself and he said I might have just as much of a chance by going there myself, talking to the officer before court and asking him to reduce it to a non-moving violation. What do you think I should do? |

| You’ve given no reason why the court, (DA) should reduce it to a non-moving violation. A different lawyer may be able to promise more. (The local municipality only wants your money and might be satisfied with any conviction.) BTW NC does not allow the insurance company to raise your rates for nine or less over the limit. |

What would be her defense? That’s what I asked, BUT, some District Attorneys like to see the local lawyers get some work. And will give a break when they can. Like a successful one will be able to stay around and fight the bigger cases. Etc. So a popular attorney might be able to get the charges dropped to equipment. |
