Need help with a wheelie ticket on motorcycle

I got a wheelie ticket in New york. I had to run up to the auto store to get a bulb. On the way home I did a wheelie. I dont know if I'd even consider it that. I brought the front end up about a foot and a half if even that and let it right back down. Well The police got me. Wrote me up for reckless driving. This is gonna kill me owning the bike pretty much. Im 19 and had a hard enough time finding insurance. Anyone have any ideas to get outta this one? My court date is sept. 16th. I need to get outta this one though.

I don't see a way out of it ... unless NY has a traffic school option and your offense allows it to be used.

Otherwise ... dumb move. Real dumb move.

yes I agree, dumb move. IT wasnt like I was riding it for miles though. It was a quick up and down. MAybe a foot, more or less like if I slipped my clutch while riding which has happend once or twice.

Well, there are a couple people here that might know about traffic school or other deferral options in NY, but I would think that this would not be an available option for you .. but, we'll see.

Hopefully, you can keep that front tire on the ground in the future. Ever see the results of one that has gone over? I have ... it ain't pretty.

No traffic school per se. You can, after a conviction, take a defensive driving course which will wipe 3 points off your license, not to mention take 15% (I think) off your insurance premiums.

I'd try to plea that down from reckless... maybe unsafe start or something along those lines. I've seen plenty worse not be called reckless, you probably just pissed off the cop.
