Nevada stoplight running/expired registration ticket

What is the name of your state? Nevada (Las Vegas)

Here is what happened: I was going 60/45 on a street and tried catching a stop light at an intersection that was turning orange. By the time I got to it, it turned red and I crossed it. Just my luck, there was a US Marshal cruiser waiting to make a right turn onto the street I was going. He pulled me over and gave me a ticket for (2) violations:

A). Driver failed to obey traffic control device (Code 0500)
Description: Vehicle did fail to obey a red traffic light by proceeding to drive through the red light. Almost caused an accident.
B). Unregistered Vehicle (Code 106)
Vehicle registration expired on 7-03-05

Some more info on this: When the officer pulled me over, he said i missed the red light by a mile and that it was lucky another driver saw me or else I would have T-boned him and I would've been dead. Then when the officer gave me the ticket, he said with a renewed registration, the expired registration ticket would probably be thrown out. And as for the other, he said it would probably end up being a standard moving violatin. I'm supposed to show to court in a month and I am planning on getting an attorney.

Previous history: I got a ticket for an accident a year ago but I pleaded it down ($280 fine, traffic school) and it was taken off on my record, so I think I have a clean record.

Does this spell bad news in court?

Unless you have a defense to the violations, you are sort of stuck.

I'd be very surprised if this was actually a "US Marshall" that gave you a ticket. It would take a fed a month to look up the relevant local statutes for a traffic violation ... that is if they even have the authority to WRITE the ticket.
