New Jersey Traffic Ticket Help!!! 39:4-85

What is the name of your state? New Jersey

Recently got a ticket for improper passing 39:4-85, pretty hefty 4 points. Any legal advice as to the best way to plead not guilty and have city attorney agree to reduce it to a zero point violation? Can you please identify the specific options? Thanks so much.

PS: may not use unsafe driving option in this case due to having use it twice between 2001 and 2005

Information To Help You Decide What To Do

Dec.1-07

melanie,

Information on how to obtain what the officer plans to use in court is available on websites by going to Google and typing in Discovery for Traffic Tickets.
If information that the officer plans to use at trial isn't available through Discovery, how to file a public records request is explained.

Yahoo also has websites on Discovery by typing in the same phrase Discovery for Traffic Tickets.

A book published by NOLO on fighting traffic tickets gives steps on filing for discovery with a form that can be copied . This book , authored by a lawyer, has complete information on how to prepare for court and how to present a proper defence in court. The book should be available from a local library.

Websites with information on what to do after being cited for a traffic violation are found by typing in (Fighting or Plea Bargaining a Traffic Ticket) on Google. The website,2nd one down,( Speeding Ticket -- Fighting or Plea Bargaining )has EXTENSIVE information that applies to all cited drivers.

Some lawyers will consult (explain your options, explain the law,ADVISE how the driver should handle his case) for a reasonable fee.$50.00? This may take more than a few calls to find one.

Regards,
Hey There

NJ usually allows you to pay an extra 250 and the ticket will not go on your record. Call the clerk and see if you are eligible.
