New York Speeding Ticket

What is the name of your state? New York

Last night I was pulled over for speeding - 53mph in a 30mph zone. No posted signs. Traffic conditions were light. Cop was stationary in right lane (not shoulder) on a 3-lane bridge(each way). I was in right lane with hazards on because tire/wheel was destroyed and suspension damaged by pothole 45 minutes prior to the stop. I was being followed in another vehicle by a friend who brought me the spare tire. I changed lanes (to middle lane)and passed the cop. At the same time, a tow truck passed in the left lane at excessive speed. The tow truck was obviously speeding, but I got the ticket. The cop took license, not registration, nor insurance card and wanted no explanation. The friend who witnessed the entire event pulled over about 1/4mi. ahead and is available to testify on my behalf. I have no priors on abstract. Any advice on how to fight this? What is the name of your state?

Is this the same speeding ticket you started another thread on?

That's TWICE that this op has been cited for EXCESSIVE speed while having mechanical difficulties.
When I have mechanical difficulties, I tend to slow down...

First of all, (seniorjudge) this is not the same ticket from my previous post. By the way, that ticket was dismissed, which explains the clean abstract, thank you.

Secondly, (zinger), as I stated, I was in the right lane with hazards on being followed by a second car who witnessed the entire event. I don't know anyone who speeds with hazards on, do you? But thanks for your "advice" anyway**************

Q: I don't know anyone who speeds with hazards on, do you?

A: Yes; several.

Q: Any advice on how to fight this?

A: Ask the prosecutor for a plea bargain. You will plead guilty to a non-moving violation and the speeding will be dropped. It may cost you more in the short run but will save you tons of dough on your insurance.

Thanks senior judge, I was told that plea bargaining was not an option in courts within the city of New York (Traffic Violations Bureau)
