What is the name of your state? CT
My ex is driving our (both our names are on it, I let her keep it when I moved out a yr & 1/2 ago, via only a verble agreement) She let the registration lapse which in turn dropped the insurance, how much trouble can she get in if she gets pulled over, can she be arrested? Also does anybody know if its leagl for me to go re-register & ins the car w/ out her knowledge under my name and reclaim it? Its been in her possesion for a yr & 1/2, but shes killing my credit w/ notoriously missing payments mths at a time & Im scared the car may be impounded if she gets pulled over. sorry for all the bad spelling

Only way to get in solely in your name is to refinance it on your own, and then re-title it.

Problem is, you will need her signature on the title if it is listed a Mr AND Mrs, rather than Mr or Mrs.

And, failure to keep the vehicle registered does not automatically make the insurance lapse.
