not obeying red light on the on ramp but cited with different violation

What is the name of your state? CA, Los Angeles

I was stopped by Highway Patrol for not obeying regulatory signal one car per green light on the on ramp. They cited me with: violation 21460(a) cvc - failure to obey regulatory signal one car/green light (this is exactly what it says on the ticket). The citation sent by the court lists the violation as 21460A 29. I found out that the violation 21460A stands for Driving to the left of parallel lines, which isn't what I have done. What does the 29 stands for? Can I fight the ticket if they charged me with different violation?

Thanx for any help or advise!

BKK

PS: I wasn't planning on not stopping, but as i was slowing down to stop (b/c the light was red), it turned green again, so I was continuing and as the front of my car approached the white line, it turned red again and I got the ticket. I consider it quite unfair, b/c i was slowing down and wanted to stop, but then the light changed to green so I was proceeding but didn't make it quite in time. There is no time between the red and green light so 1 second you are driving on green and the next you are breaking the law....

The computer program that LA County uses to enter citations into the record requires us to them just what kind of a violation it is. 29 means that it's a violation of the vehicle code, 21 is the penal code, 01 is a muni code.

Thank you, that is a helpful info! So it means that the policeman made a mistake and cited me with wrong violation, correct? Does it mean I have a case?

Without seeing the ticket itself, it would be hard for me to tell just what the officer was thinking. He may have cited you for something different. Who knows? You have the right to post the bail (pay the ticket) and contest it. You may also receive and amendment in the mail. Just too hard to tell.
