Notice to Appear

I recently was pulled over by the cop for speeding in a 70zone with a speed of 82mph. He gave me a "Notice to Appear" and I was driving from Fresno to Los Angeles. So now according to that I have to appear for a court in fresno within 60 days or so. I dont know what to do. Also i called the given number and it said that my citation is not yet registered and i may have to wait for some more time. I got this on Monday and it has been 4 days till now. Also i wil be leaving the country next week. Any suggestions ? Also I got a summons for jury service from superior court of los angeles and it is asking me to register for jury duty in 5 days. What do I do ?

If you fail to follow through with either notice, you can end up a wanted person.

The Jury Duty notice should have some way to appeal it or appear and explain your situation in person.

As for the citation, if you are not going to be in the country on the court date, you need to contact the clerk and ask what your options might be. perhaps they can continue the matter or you can plead guilty and pay any fine before you go. Your call.

It takes an average of 21 days for the citation to be entered into the court system.

Also, for 12 miles over the limit, I see no reason why you have to appear in person in the Fresno court unless and until you are scheduled to appear for trial after pleading "not guilty". You can handle the citation by phone or possibly online if you choose to. Here is a link to the Fresno County Superior Court: http://www.fresnosuperiorcourt.org/
