Exclamation

NY Tkt information/MI resident

What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? Michigan

I was stopped for speeding on NY's I-90 and the ticket stated 80/55 while it was actually a 65MPH zone. I later realized going thru the tkt that the officer (who was professional) made a mistake on the tkt stating it was 55MPH zone. The Speed limit signs indicate 65 MPH (it was not a construction zone either), besides the officer too mentioned when he stopped me that it was a 65 MPH and he clocked me 80. My questions-

1. Can the inaccuracy in the ticket be corrected? 80/55 vs 80/65.
2. My driving record is clean (until now). How should I proceed with the charges?
3. Will the points be carried over to my MI driving records ?

Appreciate your advice. Thanks.

Yep. All you have to do is show the court that the posted speed limit was in fact 65 and not 55 as cited.

Depends on what you want to do.
If plead guilty, then pay the fine.
If plead not guilty, then contact the court and set a trial time/date.

Generally yes. Per MCLA 257.320a:
(1) The secretary of state, within 10 days after the receipt of a properly prepared abstract from this or another state, shall record the date of conviction, civil infraction determination, or probate court disposition, and the number of points for each, based on the following formula, except as otherwise provided in this section and section 629c....

Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport!

Thanks for the prompt response. Couple of queries--

"Yep. All you have to do is show the court that the posted speed limit was in fact 65 and not 55 as cited."
...Your feedback suggests I should hire an attorney, appear before the court etc. But this is not about pleading guilty or not guilty. Its about accuracy of the ticket vs posted speed limit. Can I legally contact the officer through an attorney and get this error rectified before I decide on my legal options?

Can you (or other Seniors here) recommend any attorneys in Detroit experienced in handling such cases?

Thanks in adv.
