Ohio speeding ticket.

What is the name of your state? Ohio

Newb alert!

Just the facts:

Clocked with Laser doing 60 in a 35, business area so lesser fine. Fine was $104. I decided not to pay out. I went to court and plead not guilty. So now the ticket is $124 with the $20 for the court fee.

Reasoning behind not paying it out is because it is my first moving violation and I was wondering if I could get the points expunged by getting the violation plead down. Worst case scenario is them turning me down and having to pay the $124, right?

What is my chance at this?

Thanks

Not like anyone seems to care but I ended up going to court, plea bargaining with the prosecutor and got the charge down to 39 in a 35, plead no contest so I got no points on my license and all I had to pay was the court fee ($84). Best case scenario if you ask me.

Actually, I'd consider the best case scenario to be NOT going nearly double the speed limit. However, for your case, the outcome was certainly better than what you had coming.

What argument did you present to the prosecutor, if any? Was it simply a "no priors", begging-for-a-second-chance plea?

Yeah, obviously I was a fool for going that fast. Yes, she told me she could lower the charge depending on my record, which was completely clean until now. Do you know how long a charge like this stays on my record?
