Old Speeding Ticket...

What is the name of your state? TX

I just received a forwarded letter from the Travis County (Austin, TX) Constable saying that they had a warrant for my arrest from a speeding ticket I receivedwhen I lived there in 2003. I thought I payed it, but they insist I have not.

My questions are these.

Will my warrant show up if I get pulled over in California? Can they take me to jail on an offense from Texas?

Speeding is a class C Misdemeanor. In Texas the statute of limitations on a class C Misdemeanor is 3 years. Will this problem just go away eventually?

For a speeding ticket? No.

No.

The SoL refers to the time limit in which the state has to file charges. If a warrant exists, charges have already been filed. SoL no longer applies.

If you ever drive in Texas and get stopped, or the locals find out you're there, you can count on a trip to the Barbwire Hotel.

Take care of it now. Never say never.
