oops! ididn't sign it!!!!!

I was driving back from Indianapolis, from helping my g-ma, when out of nowhere, a state trooper pulled up on my tail w/o his lights on. i immediately let off the gas. but, he still found reason to pull me over!!!!! he said i was going 82 in a 70, so he gave me a ticket, but he didn't have me sign it . Is this a problem. could i get in major trouble for that. or, does that mean the whole ticket is invalid? (please say yea i dunno anything about traffic violations since this is my first one . i'm can't even be there for the court case, since i will be in college. what do i do?

Pay the ticket. You only have to sign the ticket if you are required to appear in court.

He caught you speeding way before he pulled up behind you.

If you can't go to court then like racer said just pay the ticket.

It is not always true that you only have to sign if you are going to court. I was recently ticketed for a violation that did not require me to go to court, and I was told to sign on the line. I told the officer that I did not wish to sign, and he informed me that if I didn't he would have to take me in front of a magistrate. This is in Virginia, mind you.

But like he said, if you can't show up in court it really doesn't matter.

In states I am familiar with, the signature is acknowledgement (substitute for a cash or other bond), that you will respond to the charge, in one of the ways specified on the citation. If required and you don't sign, the cop can take you before a magistrate to obtain bond. In your case, I suspect it makes no difference about the signature, that you will still be held responsible for answer in the charge, in one way or another, or face issuance of a warrant. Don't count on forgetting about the deal and skating. You should have representation appear for you, and may get off, if the judge is in a good mood.

Nope. Your signature on the citation is simply your promise to appear. Your missing signature means nothing.

Nice try.... but no.

Your options:
1) Pay the ticket, or
2) Contact the court and set a date for a hearing, where you can present your evidence against the ticket.

If you are going to pay, you might contact the court about DA (Deferred Adjudication) or similar. That is where you agree to pay a lower fine (costs, etc.) and take defensive driving. If you don't get another ticket within the time stated by court, this ticket is dismissed.

There are at least 17 lawsuits (!!) pending in various courts, including the US Supreme Court, asking if Obama is a natural born citizen (as req'd by Art II, Sec 1 of the US Constitution).

Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport!

In Indiana, you don't have to sign the ticket for it to be valid.

What county were you cited in? (Indpls is in Marion County.)
