second post, would truly appreciate helpful response.
19 year old daughter drove two friends (all over age 18) to the mall. At some point the front seat passenger, unexpectedly, reached over and grabbed the steering wheel and jerked it. daughter's car spun out over two lanes on the expressway.
Luckily, none of the girls were seriously hurt, only her car was damaged ($6000+) and she received a careless driving ticket costing $215 and 3 points. Daughter mentioned passenger actions to officer. both passengers elected to go to the hospital as a precaution since they were shook up and bruised from seatbelts and released very shortly thereafter.
Not diminishing daughter's responsibility but wondering if front passenger holds some responsibility as well since her grabbing the steering wheel was stupid and dangerous.
Is there a time frame for pursuing any action (if any) ... days, weeks or once fine is paid? Front passenger now denies any involvement, backseat passenger knows what happened but resists getting *involved* due to front seat passenger's vengeful nature. she fears repercussions. Daughter no longer considers either girl a friend. chalking this up to a live and learn situation but don't want to miss opportunity to teach same lesson to front seat passenger, if possible.
Thank you very much for any informative comments
