Passing School Bus IL

What is the name of your state? Illinois
I passed a school bus in the same lane as it was coming to a stop. As I was about halfway along the length of the bus, the driver put out the stop arm sign. As there was a line of traffic behind me, I continued around the bus. The driver and a teacher-monitor signed a complaint against myself and several cars behind me. An officer came to my home and after ascertaining that it was my vehicle and I was driving, took my license and asked me to come to the police station. Once there I was issued a traffic ticket. I gave a voluntary written account while there also.
My question is: What generally happens in these cases? I know that for the first offense a 3-month suspension and $150 fine are mandatory. Does anyone know if the charges are usually lessened? And if not, are hardship licenses generally issued? I am a single mother and need transportation for work and emergency issues.
Thank you

The warning lights start before the arm comes out and you have ample time to slow down and stop when you see the bus beginning to stop. By continuing you also encourage others behind you to do the same thing.

Does your child ride the bus? How would you feel about someone putting your child in danger?

With that said there is no requirement that you admit to being the driver. You should never admit to anything when questioned. Don't lie but don't admit guilt. Never give a written statement without legal advice. The best you can do now is to appear in court and request that you be charged with a lesser offense or retain an attorney to negotiate for you.
