Photo Radar

Arizona

I was driving my boss's vehicle and was flashed by the permanent photo radar on the freeway in Scottsdale. I was traveling 90 in a 65 and this qualified as a criminal speeding ticket. My boss is a good friend and is willing to help to a certain extent. He said he would say he did not know who the driver was but was not willing to take the blame if it came to that.

Is he required by law to give the name of the driver of the vehicle? If there is no way around it I would be content with a regular ticket and the driving school. Would there be a way to make a deal to lessen it to a regular ticket without admitting that he knows the identity of the driver. Is there anything I can do to make it easier for my boss to deal with this situation? I already feel bad that he even has to waste his day at court. Also, my boss and I really look nothing a like if that is of any consequence. Thank you in advance for your help, I know that there are not many people that would do work in their professions for free.

Nope, he's not required by law. He is more than welcome to be uncooperative, accept the blame, and pay the ticket.

I'd just fess up and ask for a lesser charge or even better get an attorney. So few people contest tickets that the judges have no problem tossing a bone.know and then,

Aside from the notification sent out, have the police actually tried to contact anybody?

Those cameras (I'm assuming you were driving on the 101) are not actually enforceable as long as you don't respond to the "summons" (it's not really a summons).

I've confirmed, through my own experience, two family members experiences, and two cop buddies words, that if you never respond to those letters, nothing will ever come of them.

Now, uh, you do need to keep in mind that my last notice was given to me quite a few years ago, so my information could potentially be out of date. Ironically enough, there have been quite a few posts about those cameras in AZ semi-lately, and one of the vet posters provided a link with some good information, so you may wish to search the forum and see what ya find.

Also, my understanding of those photo tickets is that if the recipient of the letter wasn't driving the car, and "doesn't know" who was driving the car, they don't actually see any repercussions as a result of the non-compliance, in spite of what Mo' suggested (I still love you Moburkes!)
