Please Help--100 on an off ramp!!

What is the name of your state?--Indiana

I was on my way back to school and got clocked on an off ramp at 100mph. I've had a few tickets in the past sooo...I'm not in a very good situation.

Any suggestions?? Does being clocked on an off ramp make a difference at all??

Please Help

Hopefully you will lose that license for awhile until you learn to operate a vehicle responsibly. 100 on an off ramp, good grief!

I appreciate your response, however, I am looking for legal advice, not moral advice. Thank you anyway

Getting the ticket at that speed on the off ramp can not help your situation.

I'm not familiar with Indana but in most parts of the country the concequences could be very serious (misdemeanor charge, suspension, jail time, huge insurance increase). See an attorney.

IC 9-21-8-52
Reckless driving; Class B misdemeanor; damage to property; suspension
Sec. 52. (a) A person who operates a vehicle and who recklessly:
(1) drives at such an unreasonably high rate of speed or at such an unreasonably low rate of speed under the circumstances as to:
(A) endanger the safety or the property of others; or

(B) block the proper flow of traffic;
(2) passes another vehicle from the rear while on a slope or on a curve where vision is obstructed for a distance of less than five hundred (500) feet ahead;
(3) drives in and out of a line of traffic, except as otherwise permitted;
(4) speeds up or refuses to give one-half (1/2) of the roadway to a driver overtaking and desiring to pass; or
(5) passes a school bus stopped on a roadway when the arm signal device specified in IC 9-21-12-13 is in the device's extended position;
commits a Class B misdemeanor.
(b) If an offense under subsection (a) results in damage to the property of another person, the court shall recommend the suspension of the current driving license of the person for a fixed period of:
(1) not less than thirty (30) days; and
(2) not more than one (1) year.
As added by P.L.2-1991, SEC.9. Amended by P.L.127-1993, SEC.1; P.L.1-2005, SEC.103.

I get the impression that this ticket, added to the previous ones, will cause a melt-down for you. So, I recommend that you hire a lawyer - but not to plea bargain it for you, but to fight it tooth and nail.

Your local phone book will have the name of numerous lawyers who do drunk driving defense. Some of them may also do other traffic defense. Interview several lawyers, don't hire the first one you talk to. Expect to spend at least $1000.

What you are looking for is a lawyer who will "paper" the cops to death, and make all kinds of procedural motions and objections.

You should try to get references on the lawyer. I suggest that you make some posts on any general purpose forums that attract people living in your city, and see if you can find some people who can recommend a lawyer who has done a good job for them. If you want to be very careful and thorough, you could go to the courthouse and look at the file of the case or cases the lawyer handled for these other people.

And even though you won't be handling the case yourself, you will need to familiarize yourself with the process. Go to the library and get all the books you can on fighting tickets. Maybe go and observe some traffic trials.

Subject: (AP) Ontario, CA: Police Arrest Man at Ontario Museum

(AP) 28 January 2001 - Sheriff's deputies were called to the Ontario Museum of History and Art Monday, after a mentally ill man refused to leave until his collection of radio tapes were put on display. Officials say Scott A. Lifshine of New York entered the museum around 1 o'clock, carrying a shopping bag full of reel-to-reel tapes and video cassettes. Lifshine, 42, claimed to be the only person on earth in possession of recordings of the momentous "California Jam" concert, that took place at the Ontario Motor Speedway in the 1970's. When told that his tapes were not rare, or relevant to the museum's exhibits, Lifshine became angry and refused to leave.
Deputy Ronald Juerst described Lifshine as a man with "several mental illnesses," who has a history of confrontations in public places in New York. Records show Lifshine was evaluated following an arrest in 1981. He is described as a "paranoid schizophrenic with delusions of grandeur." He told sheriff’s department interviewers that he is the "greatest rock star and movie star in the world," and that he "controls all Internet newsgroups." Newsgroups are bulletin boards available online which cover thousands of topics. Lifshine carried an I.D. card that lists his home address as a halfway house for the mentally ill in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Lifshine was released to his wife Monday afternoon, who noted that he had not taken his medication for three days -- a factor which may have led to his outburst. No one was hurt during the incident.

In fact, you are so astonishingly correct in this matter, it will not surprise us one bit if you are offered a generous settlement, because, by golly, that’s just how it should be.

Is repetitive questioning apart of your disorder? What did your doctor advise you to do when caught repeating yourself?
