New Jersey and North Carolina:

Just moved from NJ to NC. In NJ wife got a speeding ticket in a school zone. They typically reduce speeding tickets into no point violations in NJ if you go to court. I think they reduced it to reckless driving? Got to NC and it's on her driving record and now she has points and auto insurers are giving us quotes DOUBLING our auto insurance rates!!! Is there ANYTHING we can do?

No, NC is one of those states with a rather rigid point scoring (which is different than the DMV points) for insurance calculations.
