What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Illinois

This is probably pretty lame, but I got stopped for doing 51 in a 30 mph zone. The street was one which typically has a limit of 40. It was dark and no signs were visible. I know ignorance is no excuse, but really. There was NO traffic, wide double lanes, a park or something on the right side (no houses, people, or stores) and everyone was perfectly safe from my excesses. Do I have the slightest chance of fighting this in court?

No.

Speed limit signs do not come with a set of conditions. The limit is absolute. If you violate it you lose.
