What I didn't mention was the story behind the state. Got my ticket in March '06. Issuing officer informed me if I can extend my court date until August 1st, he would be transferred and that would be that. Even with a one time 60 day extention my court date is 7/3/06. Question is, how can I get the date after 8/1/06 if I post bail and request a court judgement on 7/3/06.

It is Trial by Declaration. California special, you can read more about it on this forum or on the web. If it does not work (most of the time), you request a real trial (de-novo). If all you needed is to buy time, that's the best way to do it.

Ah yes, and if it all fails, don't forget to ask the judge for traffic school.
