Question About a Written Plea to VA

What is the name of your state? Maryland

Hi,

I received a ticket on I-66 back on June 6th for supposedly doing 85/55 which is reckless driving. I will admit that I could have been doing 70/75 but not 85. The court date was originally set for July 2nd but I called the traffic clerk and told her that I would not be able to make it because I was going on vacation on Independence Day weekend. So the date was set for Aug 4th which is next week. I wont be able to appear because I have to work that day. My question is how would I go about sending in a written plea? I plan to plea no lo after reading the other posts that state that by pleading no lo no derogatory data is added to my driving record. I would just be dealing with a fee. I cant hire a lawyer because I don't have the money because I am a college student. The is also the 1st moving violation ticket that I received so my record is clean. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

No Lo

What does NO LO stand for?

I've seen it in a few posts...
My question is similar to this one (see posted by Syv 26/07/04)
Reckless driving by speed 82/65 on I-77 in VA, Wythe Co.

Will my written response to the judge along with a certified copy of my clean driver's record help to lower the ticket/fine? At least from reckless to just speeding?

Thanks.
