| | | | Qust a quick but IMPORTANT question. Lived in TN, now FL pulled over in KY
Got a ticket from cop in KY, nothing big...blew it off
1) Do points transfer over to TN? and to insurance and stuff and they cant do that until I plee or am found guilty right?
2) Since I didnt show up, the back of the ticket says "not paying could result in suspended license or warraant for arrest."
a) Would i know if my license was suspended, would i get mailed and is there a way i can find these things out online?
b) if they do post a warrant for my arrest is it only valid in KY and or that city or does those suckers travel all throughout the US?
Answers to any and all of these questions would be greatly appreciated...im a young guy but very intelligent but these things just have me stumped! Thanks! |

I would think after the insane, wrong advice you just gave people on a legal forum, you would be able to answer your own question.

In fact, you are so astonishingly correct in this matter, it will not surprise us one bit if you are offered a generous settlement, because, by golly, that’s just how it should be.

| | | | ...and that post that took up WAY too much room was TOTALLY unnecessary, a little childish if you ask me, if you have a problem or disagree with a comment I made, discuss it with that person and tell them you disagree and give them "better" advice. Dont give me crap for my OPINION. Thanks lad, good nite to ya, JERK |

| | | A warrant is valid anywhere ... whether KY will choose to extradite from TN is iffy - so TN may not find out about the warrant. But, TN will almost certainly have your license suspension reported to it by KY eventually. And if TN and KY are both members of the interstate compact, TN would honor the suspension and revoke your TN DL.
And since you are "a young guy but very intelligent" you can lok up the compact yourself ... after commenting the way you did to Paridise, I'm not in any mood to look it up for you.
Oh ... and having a warrant has other ugly effects ... popping up on backgrounds for good jobs, student or government loans, etc. I'm sure it'll be comforting to know that for the rest of your life you will be having this hanging over your head (unless you take care of it).

You lost it, you don't know where you got it, and you don't know if it even exists. What is your question?, or do you just need a "Binky"?

| | | DJ,
You need to try to remember the city where you got the ticket. Then call the court house in that city/county. If you can't remember, I'd start with the TN DMV and KY DMV, you'd probably be able to trace the origin of any points received to the city/county where you were ticketed ... but that's just a guess and there are probably easier ways to go about it. More than likely, a warrant has been issued for your arrest. If KY doesn't extradite, you probably won't be arrested, but it will possibly hinder you in future attempts to obtain jobs (it will pop up if they run a background check). Not sure the affect that it will have on attempts to get college financial aid via the federal gov't ... I inadvertantly had a warrant in my name for the past three years and never had any problem obtaining financial aid.
As for your license being revoked/suspended, there is a chance that this didn't happen. Three years ago, I received a ticket, went to court to get the fine reduced, and sent in payment a few days later, then went on with my merry life, never checking to see if payment had actually been received. Last month as I was getting my paperwork together for the military, I discovered that the payment had never been received and a warrant had been issued for my arrest close to three years ago . Luckily, even though the court house notified the DMV of the warrant and unpaid ticket, my license was never revoked/suspended. To find out if your license has been revoked/suspended, call the DMV in TN.
