What does a work permit has to do with your inability to drive properly?

As far as suspension goes, you probably just have to wait 1 year. Once it is imposed, you cannot change it. As for what you called permit, I presume you meant "hardship" or "restricted" license. Call the court to find out if you can apply for one.
