Ran red light in Florida

What is the name of your state? Florida

Ok, here is the problem: I received a ticket for running a red light. But, I did stop at the red light, waited, waited some more, repositioned my car, waited some more, and then, thinking the light was malfunctioning went through when the way was clear.

The officer thought it was funny when he handed me the ticket stating: "ya, lifes a bitch but..."

My question: Is this a valid ticket? Is this a valid defense if I decide to contest this ticket?
