Reckless Driving ? !&#$%@^i was charged of 'reckless driving' while doing 80 on 65 on an EMPTY road in this place called prince william county in virginia. it was 2 in the night but i didin't realise that despite the absence of any signs of suspicion the officer searched the car and the occupants (me and my friends). firstly i consider this unreasonable and unwarrented. needless to say i was given a summons to the court. anyways this had happened in Jan 2000, during our drive back to austin, texas from blacksburg, virginia. so being in a different state i never could show up in court in virginia. my questions are: how does this affect my driving record in texas and how are out-of-state offenses handled by the department of public safety? |

ticketI am not a lawyer, but when I was living in Texas my sister (black sheep of family) had her license suspended and was in the habit saying she was me or my other sister. I received a letter from Dept of Public Safety about a year after she had a traffic ticket saying that I was going to be suspended. It will probably catch up with you eventually. Get a good attorney, pay your dues and stop driving fast. |

| The U.S. States driving compact allows fines and suspensions in one state to be effective in the home state. The citation will be on your Texas driving record and if Virginia suspends your license, the state of Texas will honor the suspension. |
