| | | reckless driving in michigan What is the name of your state? MI but with out of state license
I was recently convicted of a reckless driving charge in michigan. i realize there is a mandatory 3 month license suspension and a 500$ bad driver fee for 2 years which i intend to pay.
however, i recently was mailed a letter stating that my license is suspended for 3 months from MICHIGAN. they had the wrong license # but the correct address. my state does not give the same 3 month license suspension but a lesser one. i called the michigan DMV and they said i can drive in my state but will not be able to drive in michigan for 3 months.
can they do this? i thought the only jurisdiction that can suspend your license is your own state?
any help would be appreciated. |

| | | Yes, you CAN lose your driving priveledges in a particular state, even if it is not your own.
You were convicted in their state, so you were sentenced by their rules. Consider yourself lucky that your state is more lenient then MI, or you would be driving a pair of Reeboks. | |
