reckless driving in va

What is the name of your state? md

Hello all:
I received my second speeding ticket in va within the past three months while driving to visit my gf in NC...these are my first two tickets in ten years, so this totally blows!! anyhow, the most recent ticket was for reckless driving 85/65 in boydton va, 30 miles from NC and the first was for 80/65..maybe I need to slow down...I didn't contest the first ticket and sent the payment to the court house..However, since the second one is reckless driving, I’m considering making an appearance to potentially receive a reduction...

My question is, would it be worth it for me to
1. drive 3.5 hours the night before
2. get a hotel and wake up early for court
3. ask the judge for a reduction

or

not contest the speeding ticket and pay the fine ($166)
1. what would happen - is it true the points will not transfer to my md record
2. can my license get suspended in md
3. how will this affect my insurance

You might want to search some of the threads but based on what I have read here, first step is to call your states DMV and ask what happens if the VA charge comes through. (e.g is 15 or 20 over reckless in Maryland)

Next step is to call you insurance company and ask what the impact could be.

Also based on what I have read here, your chances of getting a reduction in VA may be very slim without professional help due to the first conviction.

If you are risking some very significant insurance increases and possible suspension, a lawyer might be a good investment.

Hey, I have a really radical idea you might consider!!!

You have offered NOTHING in your post in the way of a defense for the second ticket, so why not just prove you are a mature grownup by being responsible, paying the ticket and accepting the consequences of your actions??? I know, really radical, but think how proud your parents would be when you show them that you actually did learn something in life!!

Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport!

In VA if you get a reckless driving ticket I was sure that its mandatory that you show up but the officer should have told you if you were required to appear in court or not. I'd call the court clerk and find out first. You dont want to assume you can just pay it and then get in trouble for not showing up. I really would hire a lawyer....call some lawyers in the county down there and find out how strict they are. I just went to court on 9/9 for a reckless driving 81/55. My lawyer said that 83 and over is usually when theres a real threat of jail time. Im not saying that to scare you but I REALLY believe that you should hire an attorny. VA is really strict on it. I was glad that i hired someone. Best of luck to you.

I asked for suggestions and help, not sarcasm pally bear...you're a little to quick to speculate based on my post regarding my age and situation. Has the thought ever crossed your mind I may be older than your imagination? Not sure how my parents got involved but seems like to me you have to growing up to do..
cheers mate...
last but not least, thanks to those who took the time to answer my questions..

And clearly, you have NO idea that age has nothing to do with maturity. I have seen some very mature young people.... and some immature old people.

Since you seem intent on NOT accepting responsibilty for your own conduct, your lack of maturity is obvious.
