Reckless Ops 84/55 VA

What is the name of your state?
I received a ticket for Reckless Ops in Stafford County VA.
84 in a 55, law section 46.2 - 862.
The section 'You may avoid coming to court only if this block is checked,' is not checked, yet the officer said I may be able to call and send in a check.

What is the best and worst case scenario?
Any chance of my license being suspended. I have a no other VA citations.
How can a lawyer improve upon the above?
Is traffic school an option?

The officer pulled two of us over at the same time, are we better off uniting as a team or
going it alone? What is the name of your state?

Quick search found worse case as
Up to one year in jail
and or up to $2500 in fines
plus suspension of license for 6 months
Reckless is a Class A Misdemeanor (like a DUI).

A lawyer could help you deal down to 19 over (below a reckless charge) or something else - A very good idea. And no, probably won't help to have the second car as it appears you know the other driver and if the judge gets the idea you were racing...

suspension of license for at least 6 months and up to 2 years

As a matter of fact, racing is one of those things that will almost get you a few days in the pokie to think about it.

Normally reckless driving is a mandatory court appearance but come counties will let you waive appearance and plead guilty. They will then tell you how much the fine is. Usually it runs between 500 and 1000. This will result in six points on your VA license and a major increase in your insurance.

A court appearance by you or your attorney will probably get it reduced to a speeeding ticket or an improper driving violation. Either will save you a lot of money on insurance.
