VIRGINIA, Loudoun County was where I received my reckless speeding ticket, I was going 71mph on 45. My court date is coming up. What possible consequences could I be facing? How many points would I receive on my liscense (I do not have any now) and by how much would my insurance raise? Thank you.

In Virginia, reckless driving carries the possibility of the following:

1) 12 months in jail
2) $2500 fine
3) 6 month license suspension
4) 6 demerit points on your driving record

An increase in insurance rates will depend on a number of factors, including the carrier, prior record, state of residence, etc. I have heard of reckless driving increasing monthly premiums as much as several hundred dollars, but you may wany to consult your automobile liabiltiy insurance agent for more specific information.
