Record of convictions stub

What is the name of your state? New York

I recently received a "No Seatbelt" ticket, which I am guilty of. Recieved a citation that requires me to pay $50 fine plus $30 surcharge. No problem here, I was guilty and I'll pay.

Also, it states the following: "New York State drivers must enclose Part 3 of License (record of convictions) and a stamped self-addressed envelope for return"

I lost this in a fire at my house last year. I went to the local DMV to get a replacement and was told they no longer use that system in NYS and that it was impossible to get a replacement from them. I called the local court where the fine is due and they said if I didn't include it, the check and summons would be returned to me and I face possible license suspension for not including it.

I found this on the governments webpage:

Is there anything I can do to avoid this, other than taking all the paperwork to court?

Thanks!

My response:

It appears that the "Record of Convictions Stub" is no longer necessary, or required. So, print out that page from the above URL, and bring it with you to court to remind the judge.

At least, that's the way it appears to me.

Thanks, IAAL.

I try not to make a habit of reminding judges of the cities errors! I don't see where I have any choice though in this matter though.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, it's appreciated.

Hey, at least I didn't ask how to beat the rap, or look for any loopholes! I could have asked if the seatbelt getting in the way of my cell phone use was a valid defense!

Actually, driving with my wife gets to be a bit tedious. I don't wear my seatbelt, and it saves me about 2 excruciating seconds that I have to be in the vehicle with her.

My response:

I know exactly how you feel. Mine is from Brooklyn, and has been here in California for decades. You'd think, I mean you'd think, that after being here for so long that she'd stop the "New York Crap" and be a Californian at some point her life. But, no. The whining, bitching, nagging and moaning, with that ridiculous "accent" continues to this very day. Sometimes, I feeling like pushing her out the passenger door!

You can leave NY, but unfortunately it stays in your blood. Give me a holler if you do shove her out, I'll gladly give mine to you in replacement!

Question: How do you stop someone from chasing after you once they have 'fallen' out of the car?

Answer: REVERSE!

No thanks. One is enough in a person's lifetime.

A guy bought a new Mercedes and was out on an interstate road for a
nice evening drive. As the needle jumped up to 80 mph he suddenly
saw a flashing red and blue light behind him. Confident he could
outrun the police car, be began to drive faster. The needle hit 90,
100, 110 and finally 120 with the lights still behind him. "What am
I doing?" he thought and pulled over. The cop came up to him, took
his license without a word and examined it and the car. "I've had
a tough shift and this is my last pull over. I don't feel like more
paperwork so if you can give me an excuse for your driving that I
haven't heard before you can go." "Last week my wife ran off with
a cop," the man said, "and I was afraid you were trying to give her
back." "Have a nice night," said the officer.
