Unhappy

My huband drives a commercial truck and got into a dispute with a driver in a car. She has accused him of road rage. An officer later came to our house and summoned him to court for aggravated driving and road rage. Should he just appear in court, get a lawyer to try to reduce the charges, or what. We have no experience with this sort of thing.

The charges seem relatively serious and for serious charges one needs a lawyer, at least for careful, detailed, in person advice on which you can rely. Whether the lawyer also should go to court depends on the facts and circumstances, and sometimes if you can afford it.

I do not know what state you are in or the penalty that may be applied, or his driving record, or what his boss or friends might say, or the impact a conviction may have on him later in life, etc., but as this sounds FAR more serious than an ordinary traffic ticket, my fear is that it could severely impact his ability to earn a living. Get to a lawyer!
