Question

Should i appeal in VA?

What is the name of your state? Virginia

After a few speeding tickets i decided to call it quits on speeding. In fact i took a driver improvement class VOLUNTARILY to learn a few things about safer driving... or defensive driving if you will. My problem occured on a drive home from work pretty late in the night. I had an unmarked car beside me, though i didn't notice it was an unmarked car, hence the name :-P and there was a car behind me. The car behind me was following substantially close, and i got nervous, rather than stay at the normal speed and make him mad, i decided to accelerate just enough to give him room to pass the car beside me, then decellerate to the right speed til i got home. Unfortunately the car behind me was an on duty officer, i just couldn't see the light bar on the hood of the roof, seeing as it was late and really dark.

Though it IS my fault, i DID speed, i felt that the officer behind me was TOO close, and that's what promted me to speed up to let him by. I was thinking that if I am found guilty, i'm going to appeal. But i'd figure i'd ask first. Is it worth it? Or would it be smarter to just let it be and pay the fine for going 10 over (55/45)? I mean i haven't gone to court yet, i could very well be found not guilty, but with my luck and past driving record against me, probably not. I'm just wondering if the consequences for appealing would REALLY be worth a fine for 10 over.

thanks
