Shouldn't I have been asked what my plea was?

I set up a court date and tried to fight a speeding ticket. I had no luck.
It is over. Ticket is paid. Insurance is notified. Story over.

I have no intention of revisiting a court room for a long long long time.

I just need to know though. Is it just a TV thing or aren't they supposed to ask you how you plead? Is it assumed that your plea is not guilty if you set up a court date to fight it. It just seems strange to me that they never asked me my plea.

If you demand a trial, the presumption is that your plea is innocent, and that's the way it's entered into the Minutes. If you had pled guilty at your pre-trial hearing, then there wouldn't have been a need for a trial, would there?
