South carolina ticket

What is the name of your state? NC
I got a speeding ticket in SC for reckless driving..6 points.
Since my state is NC, will the points affect my NC licence and insurance?
I have a court appearance in december to appeal this ticket.
What effect does this ticket have on my NC license.

Both states are part of the States Drivers License Compact and Non Resident Violators Compact. What ever penalty assessed in SC will be tacked on to your NC license.

" What ever penalty assessed in SC will be tacked on to your NC license."

This is not necessarily true since NC does not assess points for out of state tickets unless they would result in a suspension of your license if committed in NC. Reckless driving in NC is four points. Check with the DMV to be sure this policy has not changed.

However the violation will show up on your record and your insurance company will assign insurance points so you can expect a major increase in insurance premiums. Having a reckless on your MVR can also have a negative effect if you are applying for certain types of jobs.

SC does have a provision for a jury trial. My suggestion would be to show up for court and talk to the officer and try to negotiate for a reduction in the violation. If that doesn't work you can plead not guilty and ask for a jury trial. Then you will have another chance to negotiate with the prosecutor.

You don't give us any details of the violation but there is a nationwide crackdown on agressive driving. Officers are being instructed to write more careless or reckless citations where in the past they would have given you a break and just issued a speeding ticket.
