Speed trap?

have i been had?

last evening i received a citation for speeding. i know i was well below the limit. here's the situation...I35 north between san antonio and austin (selma), traveling in center lane. 6:15 pm. heavy flow of traffic, daylight, vehicle in front of me suddenly brakes, SUV passing me on right side, I attempt to move to left lane...18 wheeler coming up from behind, abort that idea and i brake even harder and stay in center lane. my vehicle did move to left and right (looking like erratic behavior). local officer immediately stops me. I apologize for erratic movements, then he informs me that wasn't the reason for the stop...speeding was, 77 in a 65. I asked him if maybe he had mistaken my vehicle with another with all the traffic, all he stated was i could contest it in court. when i arrived at home i reviewed the citation and this is where i have my concerns.

first...the time, on the citation, of the stop is 6:40pm, time on my stove 6:38pm, 10 miles and 23 minutes from the actual time of the stop

second...the time on the citation just happens to be 1 minute after the "offical" sunset of 6:39pm, thus reducing the speed limit from 70mph and 65mph("night" speed limit) and increasing the fine.

third..."traffic flow" on citation "light" circled. Anyone who has ever traveled on I35 between san antonio and austin know the only light taffic flow is in the middle of the night. sunday evenings are as bad as rush hour.

i'm heading to court on the 1st of april. Anyone have any advise, comments, or similar experiences?

I guess it could have been worse....I could have looked like someone on the the top-10 most wanted.

and I never heard of day and night speed limits.Is that really the law in Texas?What do others say?

Yup...It's true, 70MPH during the day, After sunset it's reduced to 65.

Jay Tee, Sorry about the ticket and unfortunatly I dont have any advice to offer except this: Selma is known for it's speed-traps, slow down next time.
