speed trap, no speed limit sign road! Is this Legal? HELP!

What is the name of your state? GA

Got a speeding ticket in Georgia. 57mph in a 40mph. They set up a speed trap b/c people were supposedly complaining about speeds on that street. The street is about 2 miles in lenght. There are no speed limits signs on the street except for behind the speed trap which was way before they were clocking people with radar. I even asked the cop where the speed limit sign was and he said "everywhere"! They had about 6 cars pulled over. Can they give out tickets when there is no speed limit sign? Was that speed trap illegal? Should I contest this ticket?

Sounds legal to me.

BUT, go ahead and plead not guilty and ask for a jury trial.

State and local law. 40-6-181 of the Georgia Code.

30 MPH in residential or urban districts
35 MPH on unpaved rural roads
65/70 on certain divided / interstate highways.
55 otherwise.
