speeding

What is the name of your state?GA

I received a ticket for 63 in a 45. I was speeding however I disagree with 63. My speedometer said 55. The officer said his radar was laser and was never wrong. I know the court usually always sides with the officer so is it worth going to court over?

Also, have you ever heard of "Case Dismissed" at http://www.beatmyspeedingticket.com. He is selling some sort of documentation that you can use in court to have your case dismissed. Just wondering if it is a scam or if really works.

Hey,
I'm from GA, too

Anyhoot, where did you get your ticket? Is this your first? How old are you?

I can give you some suggestions, but need a little more background first ...

I got my ticket in Marietta from the Cobb County Police. I'm 39 yrs old and no, this not my first ticket. Any advice would be appreciated. I can not afford for my insurance to increase. I already have a teen driver and that alone is costing me a fortune for insurance.

Have you pleaded "nolo contendere" to a traffic ticket within the last five years? If you haven't, I would go this route. You have to show up for your court date to enter this plea. You'll still be responsible for the fine, but there will be no points added to your record therefore no insurance increase.

You'll have to stand before the judge to enter the plea and he'll probably ask you if you'd like to make a statement. I'd simply say that you were sorry as there's a chance that he'll also reduce the fine you owe if you fall on your sword, so to speak. Bring cash to pay the fine that day, and hold onto the receipt.

... and watch for those speed traps. Gwinnett County and Cobb County are notorious for 'em.

GA officers will usually give you 14mph since that ticket does not show on your record and there are so many others to pick from.

Thank you for your help. I also posted a message about "nolo contendere" on realpolice.net (before I received your response) and they responded that I would still pay a fine AND receive points on my license AND receive an insurance increase. If that's true then I might as well just pay the ticket and not go to court.

I don't mean to question you but I just want to make sure that I understand. If I plead nolo in the state of GA, I will not receive points on my license nor will my insurance be affected. . .right? Thanks!
