Speeding at +34MPH over a 70MPH zone in Missouri MO

What is the name of your state? From California, Cought in Missouri

Hello there, I found that speeding at +34MPH above the speed limit is a Misdemeanor . Is it mandatory to appear in court. Can I hire an attorney to appear for me? (Flying over from CA is costly). How will the points appear in CA? Should I really take a Lawyer to not face jail time? in 11yrs driving this is my 2nd offence but wow lesson learned.. Any advice? Anybody had my situation? Anybody know fine and court costs?

Thanks!
Gus.

Was this one of those tickets that is handled through the traffic violations bureau in Jefferson City? If it is, you can pay it by mail.

If it is not, then you can usually just send the money in. Call the clerk of the court.

What county did you get caught in?

Thanks seniorjudge,
I had just purchased a car and was going from Chicago to California.
The ticket was in Laclede County Mo (Court at Lebanon MO)

Unfortunately, there is no option to just send in the money by mail. I called the clerk and she confirmed that this is not a pay by mail ticket . Any advice on what route to take on handling this?

I appreciate all your help.

They're very nasty about speeding in that county due to all the traffic deaths. And you were going 104 mph. So I think you will have to show up there.

The maximum is a year in the county jail or a fine of $1000 or a combination thereof.

A few years back, a lawyer could have handled this without the defendent being present. You definately need a lawyer and may need to go to Springfield or St. Louis to find a good one.
