speeding 55 in 45. case dismissal?

What is the name of your state? california

I have a speeding ticket doing 55+ in a 45 zone. My court date is July 17th. The vacation dates column in the citation states, July 12 - Aug 1. Does that mean the officer is on vacation on those days? If I go to court on July 17 and plead not guilty, and the officer is not present because he is on vacation, then will the judge dismiss the case? Or can he postpone it to a different date?

If California's anything like it is here, if you plead not guilty, the hearing is scheduled for a later date anyway.
