Speeding, caught close to higher speed limit sign... I was pulled over in Georgia recently going 65 in a 45. After I pulled over and the policeman was giving me a ticket, we were talking (I told him I was hurrying for my wedding rehersal (true)), and he was trying to be nice and said,
"A few miles before the highway, the speed limit goes back down to 45."
I said, "You mean I'm in a 55 zone?"
"You are now," he replied
"Was I pulled over in the 55 zone?"
He said, "No, I got you before the speed zone changed."
Now, I don't know excatly how close I was to the sign when he turned on his flashers, but what are the chances I could get this to be over turned, or atleast lowered? What does the law say about how close I need to be to the higher limit? A policeman friend of mine (who I just spoke to briefly) said, If I was 300 feet from the sign, then I am considered in a 55 MPH zone if I wanted to fight it.
To fight or give in easily and hope it is reduced?
Thanks for the help.
Will
