 What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Texas

We live in Texas. My husband received a ticket this evening for speeding through a construction zone. The normal speed limit is 60 and he was going 64. The State Trooper indicated the speed limit of 50 is still in place even though A) construction is complete although the signs have not been removed yet and B) there were no workers (or equipment, etc.) present. The signs clearly indicate "when workers are present". I cannot locate any information on the laws in construction zones, other than fines are doubled. The officer also gave him a hard time about not having a front license plate on our vehicle. It was not there when we purchased it from the dealer, we drive a Jaguar and there isn't even a place to attach it. He also questioned him on our insurance since our agent is in Houston and we live in Dallas. Seemed to us he was profiling us (because of our car), even making my husband get out of the car and stand on the side of the freeway. We were stopped less than 3 miles from our home. What exactly is the law regarding construction zones?

Front license plate brackets are available for Jaguars. If you want policy to stop "profiling" your car, fix the little stuff that can given them cause to stop. By not having the plate in place, you are making it easy for them.

Construction zone speed limits generally are in effect whether workers are present or not. If the sign said that, then you MIGHT get some consideration there.

As for the license plate. No way. The front license plate bracket is a factory part. Your car may not have one, but that doesn't mean that you are not obliged to get it (or find another way to mount the plate). By the way, for the recent model Xk's it's only $32. When you order you need to know the year, model, and whether you've got a supercharged engine or not.
