Speeding Ticket and Expired License

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NJ

Story: My driver's license expired yesterday and I got pulled over tonight for speeding. I gave him my license etc, he gave me 2 non-payable offense tickets with my court date on them. I have never received a ticket before in my 5+ years of driving. I'm wondering what my best course of action is to minimize costs/points/insurance debacles.
