speeding ticket with laser radar

What is the name of your state? OH

I was ticketed for going 70 in a 55 by a county sheriff that was traveling on an overpass that I went under. Is that possible if he was going east to west and I was going north to south? I was also going with the flow of traffic. My truck still has NC plates on it as I just separated from the Marines and haven't transferred my plates to OH. I believe I was picked out of the crowd because of the out of state plates as they know most of them won't appear in court. I start school next week and don't want to miss any classes, but if I have a chance of winning in court I would take the chance. Any opinions?

It is unlikely you would have much luck contesting on those grounds.

What state is your drivers licence from?

A lawyer has the best chance of helping in court and saving you money in the long run.

I have to give the officer props. Hitting a specific car with laser(while moving perpendicular to the speeding car) has got to be hard. Unlike older types of radar that can't pinpoint a specific car if it is in a crowd, laser radar and pick a car out of a crowd.

It will be hard to fight a laser radar ticket.

Laser (LIDAR) and RADAR are two separate things. The lidar uses light and the RADAR uses radio/microwave frequency energy to measure speed. Maybe the ticket just had one box to check for both

If he was moving, it was probably radar, if stationary it could have been either.

LIDAR needs to be used stationary. The officer aims the beam of light towards a reflective part of the vehicle (licence plate, headlights, grill) to get the measurement. If the officer was stopped on the overpass, he could have been aiming out his window.
