Question

Speeding ticket in NC

What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? North Carolina

My daughter recently recieved a speeding ticket and was informed that she has to go to court. Her problem is there is NO fine or bond amount printed anywhere on the ticket, what do we do?

Speeding ticket in NC

Thank you for the reply, I was not clear in my original post. Is it NORMAL or acceptable to NOT post a fine or bond amount on a ticket? The ticket was from a State Trooper who I would hope knows how to properly write out and complete a ticket.

In NC I have never seen them post a fine.

On the back of the form there is a place for it, but I believe it is used if you go to court, plead guilty without seeing the Judge, and pay the fine.

They DO NOT take Personal checks.

Depending on the county, if your daughter goes to the DA, and gives some excuse, : sorry, first time, high insurance cost.( and if she has less than three years driving it really goes up if guilty to ten miles over the limit.)

They often reduce the charge to Guilty of less than 10 miles over the limit. But what ever they do They want court costs.

I was surprised the last time, when I went with my youngest son, the judge complimented him for telling me about the ticket, instead of trying to hide it.
good luck.

I always go to a court trial on my tickets, because very often the officer does not show up. If he doesn't show up, the case is dismissed.

Here in CA, if you go to traffic school that keeps the points from going on your record - maybe it is the same in NC. Here in CA they "dangle" that to discourage you from going to trial, by suggesting that you will lose your chance to go to traffic school if you fight the case. But what they suggest is not true - you do not lose your chance at traffic school just because you fought the case. The judge can still grant it to you, if he is willing. Some are, some aren't.

I am saying all this stuff about CA because NC may have some of the same procedures. You should check it all out, before you give up. Try posting on some newsgroups or forums that attract a lot of people from NC - some of the people who reply will have the inside info and will be very happy to share it.

(Yes, this is the same answer I just posted to two other speeding ticket threads, with only the name of the state changed.)

NC is very different form CA and there are many posts here that can be searched.

The details of the ticket are needed to provide advise (speed measure/speed limit).
