Speeding ticket in PA

What is the name of your state? Pennsylvania

I got a speeding ticket going 50mph in a 25mph. Yikes, I know. Now, I don't doubt that I was speeding, but just wondered how they knew it was me. The polic were standing on a yard and there was a device on the traffic light that they looked at, then stopped me. I did not pass them, so I was wondering if it could have been someone else's car.

They set the court date in August (with a time of 1AM, I still have to check about this one ... another error on their part).

Is there anyway I can get it reduced so I don't get points?

Thanks!

**A: was this device like a camera or something?

I am not sure if there was a camera - it is a speed trap. And there are about 6 cops stading on a lawn. Then they come out onto the street, look up at the traffic light (some device) and tell you to pull over

**A: maybe it's some new religion for cops, praying to the traffic light gods.....

**A: that figures. The device displays the speed of the vehicles.

you should go and plead guilty and ask for 3111, you'll just pay the fine and no points if the judge allows it.

I'd be curious to know what magical device is attached to the traffic light. Especially since whatever device it was is probably not lawful for use in speed enforcement.

Look at the citation, in block 25 (Nature of Offense) it should state the method used to clock your vehicle.

My GUESS would be that another officer, not visible to you, checked your speed prior to you seeing the officers on foot, and radioed ahead the description of your vehicle.

3111 - I will ask for that. I don't mind paying the fine, since I was speeding...I just didn't want the points (although I may have to deal with that too).

Thanks
