Speeding ticket & Traffic Court

I am located in East Lansing, MI.

Tonight I was pulled over for going 50 in a 35 zone near my school. I was cited for 45 in 35. The ticket said that he caught me doing 50 by laser.

I really don't believe that I was doing 45 let alone 50 because prior to the area where he was hiding is a turn I had to stop at 500-750 feet behind. I couldn't have accelerated that fast right?

I really want to fight this citation as this is my first time being pulled over and being ticketed for speeding, is there any reason why I shouldn't go to court about this? (i.e. would they charge me with going 50 in 35?)

You said he cited you for 45 in 35 right? Then you are being charged with 45 in 35 regardless of whether you fight it or pay it!
