Speeding ticket with wrong violation codeWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Georgia I recently got a speeding ticket where the officer wrote a different violation code on the ticket then what I am charged for when I go to pay it online. Is there any way I can get it thrown out for this error? |

Maybe the citation was amended and you have yet to receive the amended version?

| 40-6-151 (Clearly a 5) on the citation. 40-6-181 online. I wasn't notified of any amended citation. Is that something that can just pop up in the mail? |

| I searched the Georgia Code for the two section numbers that you provided and the results were as follows: Search for Code Section 40-6-151 results were: Quote:

J/K Obviously, your initial guess that the “5” should have been an “8” was in the right direction. A typographical error can hardly be used as a justifiable reason to dismiss a citation. Better luck next time! Normally it would show up a few days after the citation was issued although no amendment will be needed in this case. It is clear that the officer shorted his "8" which made it look like a 5.
