Speedy Trial Rights in Michigan?

What is the name of your state? Michigan

I was given a ticket for going 5 MPH over on a 50 mph road back in December. I requested an informal hearing and sent back the ticket. They told me 2-3 months for the hearing.

6 months later, I received a note in the mail that my hearing would be in another 2 months. 8 months from the date of the offense, for a stupid 5mph over speeding ticket!

I've been able to find speedy trial requirements for a number of states, and the range seems to be 45-180 days. I can't find any info for Michigan. Anyone able to help, or is it b/c MI doesn't have any set rules? If not, would it be fair to point out the ranges from other states?
