Statute of limitations question-TX

I received a speeding ticket from a state trooper in a county an hour from my home. I am fighting the ticket because of a serious error on the ticket. I drove to the court house to set a court date. The clerk told me i would be mailed a date to meet with a prosecutor and/or a judge to discuss my case before a date is set. This was over a month ago. I have not recived any word from the court about my ticket. I am sending them a certified letter inquiring about my case. What other steps do i need to take, and what are my rights as to a speedy trial and due process? Also, do i have any chance of getting the venue changed to my local county court? I am in Tarrant County Texas, the ticket was issued in Rockwall County, Texas.
